Caroline M. Cole, Ph.D.Caroline Cole received her doctorate in the Center for Writing Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana.
In addition to having taught business writing courses since 1989, Cole has taught courses in technical writing and desktop publishing and has led professional writing workshops in both university and industry settings. As a faculty member at the University of California, Berkeley, she has taught writing courses for the College Writing Programs and the Walter A. Haas School of Business. In 1999, she designed, proposed, and launched College Writing 151 to help students communicate more appropriately and effectively in non-academic contexts; its follow-up course, College Writing 152: Advanced Professional Communication, launched in Spring 2012. She is the author of Secrets of Résumés and Application Letters that Work and the blog Areté, which extends discussions and practices from the course by examining strategies for presenting our ideas, products, and services in the best possible light beyond the classroom. Working primarily with students, she also has developed and led professional writing workshops for faculty and staff and serves as a consultant for businesses and individuals. Caroline M.
